BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The men and women serving on the Libertas Academy Board of Directors lead, encourage, and inspire our school community in the pursuit of excellence in classical, Christian education. Guided by Scripture and a shared vision, the Board is committed to ensuring that Libertas remains faithful to its mission — developing life-long learners with a firm foundation in Christ physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Governance Model
Libertas Academy operates under the Policy Governance Model, a framework designed to promote clear leadership, strong accountability, and alignment with the school’s mission.
Under this model, the Board governs through written policies that define the long-term outcomes the school exists to achieve (ENDS) and the guardrails within which the school operates (Executive Limitations). These policies ensure that the mission, vision, and values of Libertas remain central to all decision-making.
The Head of School is the Board’s sole employee and holds full authority over the school’s operations, including academics, staff leadership, and day-to-day administration. Operational leadership is the clear purview of the Head of School and administrative team.
The Board focuses on mission, vision, and accountability—protecting the purpose of the school, setting strategic direction, and monitoring progress toward desired outcomes—while empowering the Head of School and staff to lead the daily work of the school with excellence.
This structure promotes clarity in leadership, healthy accountability, and strong alignment with Libertas Academy’s mission to develop life-long learners with a firm foundation in Christ—physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Our Owners
As a Christian organization, the Libertas Academy Board understands its role as agents acting on behalf of its identified owners. In the Policy Governance framework, “owners” are those to whom the Board is ultimately accountable for the faithfulness, direction, and long-term flourishing of the institution. At Libertas Academy, we recognize the following owners:
-
God, the ultimate authority and source of wisdom.
-
Current families, who entrust their children to the school’s care and partnership.
-
Engaged stakeholders, including donors, alumni, and community supporters.
-
Founding members, whose vision and faithfulness established the foundation upon which Libertas continues to grow.
Board members do not serve as representatives of particular groups or constituencies. Instead, they act as faithful stewards on behalf of all owners collectively, making decisions to protect the mission and ensure the long-term health of the school.
In this role, the Board is charged with guarding the mission, vision, and Portrait of a Graduate, while ensuring the long-term sustainability and strength of Libertas Academy. The Board governs not only for the needs of today, but with a responsibility to future generations of families who will seek a Christ-centered education for their children.
All Board actions, policies, and decisions are made with these owners in mind, with the goal of preserving the school’s mission and strengthening its future for decades to come.
Meetings & Participation
The Board typically meets on the third Friday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Dates and times are subject to change; please contact us to confirm. Each meeting begins with an open session, and parents and other interested parties are warmly encouraged to attend.

Board Member Nominations
Libertas Academy benefits from the wisdom, leadership, and faithful stewardship of individuals who are committed to the mission of the school. From time to time, the Board seeks to identify qualified individuals who may be called to serve in this important role.
We invite members of our school community to submit nominations of individuals who demonstrate strong character, sound judgment, and a commitment to Christ-centered education. Because Libertas Academy is a Christian school, board members are expected to demonstrate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to see students formed in truth, wisdom, and virtue.
Board service involves prayerful leadership, strategic oversight, and support of the mission and long-term vision of Libertas Academy.
Nominations are reviewed by the Board’s Governance Committee. Qualified candidates may be invited to submit a formal application and participate in an interview process.
If you would like to nominate someone for consideration, please use the form below.
