Matt Thullen, PhD

Matt is a Chicago native who met his wife while attending UC Davis. After considering Calaveras County a second home for many years, they made it their primary home several years ago. They have three children, including Libertas Academy alumni.

Matt brings a diverse professional background in academia, social work, philanthropy, and nonprofit leadership. A former university professor, he currently serves as the Executive Director of the local pregnancy center, where his work includes organizational leadership, community engagement, and service to individuals and families. With 11 years of graduate study, Matt also brings a deep appreciation for thoughtful learning environments, intellectual formation, and the importance of approaching education through a distinctly Christian worldview.

His experience across education, social services, and nonprofit leadership gives Matt a broad perspective on organizational mission, community needs, and the lasting impact strong institutions can have on families. After seeing firsthand the influence Libertas Academy had on his own children, he is honored to serve on the Board and is passionate about helping the school grow in strength, faithfulness, and its ability to bless families throughout the community.
